How are the palette colors chosen?

The tool uses a simplified median-cut algorithm. It groups similar colors and averages each group, producing a small set of representative colors from the image.

Are my images uploaded?

No. All color extraction and picking happen in your browser. Your images never leave your device.

How many colors are extracted?

Up to 8 dominant colors are extracted. This is enough to represent the main tones of most images without overwhelming the palette.

Why does the picked color differ slightly?

The picked color is the exact pixel value at the point you clicked. JPG compression and image scaling can cause small differences between nearby pixels.
